Research at the Morgridge Institute will focus on exploring questions relating to human health at the dynamic intersection of biology, computer science and bioengineering. While the executive director of the Morgridge Institute will ultimately work with the Morgridge Board of Trustees and the scientific leadership of the institute to chart the course of the research program, the Morgridge Institute is embarking on a set of initiatives to seed the research program even before construction of the facility is complete.

Through a series of listening sessions, interviews and interactive dialogs with researchers from diverse areas across the UW-Madison campus, as well as leaders of medical research institutes across the country, key themes have begun to emerge as areas of focus for the Morgridge Institute:

Regenerative Biology

Computational Biology

The emphasis on these themes as initial focus areas for research at the Morgridge Institute stems in large part from their potential to lead to promising discoveries that will ultimately impact human health. As the leadership of the institute continues to form, dialog and exploration of additional broad themes will continue.
